Mayor LaFrance announces Office and Management and Budget Director

Anchorage, AK－Mayor LaFrance announced Ona Brause as Office and Management and Budget (OMB) Director.

Brause brings extensive experience to the role, particularly Municipal budget experience. Brause served as Chief of Staff to Mayor Berkowitz from 2017-2020 and Deputy Chief of Staff from 2015-2017. In her role as Chief of Staff, she provided executive guidance, policy development, financial management, and support to the mayor and directors overseeing the work of 3,000 employees serving 300,000 residents.

During her 15+ years in the private sector, Brause has also worked as director Finance and Operations for Alaskan-owned small businesses specializing in data and research analysis and financing and development for community-scale renewable energy projects in rural Alaska. In that work, she helped to secure and administer over $25 million in state and federal grants, as well as corporate partnerships and private funding awards.

"Ona brings a strong track record and a fierce commitment to responsible budgeting and effective service delivery," stated Mayor LaFrance. "I am grateful to have her on the team as we look ahead to delivering an effective, balanced budget this fall."

Ona started in the role on Monday, July 22, 2024.​
