Medline hosts second MedTrans National Rodeo

Medline's dedicated team of 1,800 specially trained drivers plays a crucial role in company's ability to deliver 95% of its orders within 24 hours. This special fleet, which is called MedTrans, deliver products and solutions to healthcare providers every day, and are often the company's most regular interaction with the clinicians and staff at the nation's hospitals, nursing homes, and doctors offices that make up the continuum of care that is the company's customers.

Recently Medline hosted its second annual National MedTrans Rodeo at the company's operational headquarters in Mundelein, Ill., which followed regional contests held earlier in the spring that followed local contests hosted by each of Medline's more than 50 distribution centers around the nation.

"Our drivers know that Medline makes healthcare run better, and as the company's frontline to healthcare providers throughout the continuum of care, they are responsible for ensuring our customers have the supplies they need to provide patient care," said Jeff Brennan, vice president of transportation for MedTrans. "We give that extra effort because we recognize that it could be our own family, or friends or community members waiting for the right medical supplies to get through a surgery, or a hospital stay, or just to help them feel better."

Drivers were able to bring their family members, and the event was held in collaboration with the company's annual meeting of each of its Directors of Operations throughout the company's distribution network, so that facility leaders could cheer and support their local drivers as they competed in a series of driving and safety skills under the watchful eyes of judges

David Curfew from West Jordan, Utah won first place for Class A. "Driving with MedTrans means a lot to me because I get to interact with healthcare providers every day and help them take care of their patients," said Curfew. Robert Negrete of San Bernadino, Calif. placed first for Class B, and said, "Winning this award is an acknowledgement of a job well done and the hard work and dedication we put in as drivers to our healthcare customers." Travis Ross from Blue Springs, Mo. won first class for Parcel trucks and said, "Driving for MedTrans gives me the feeling that I am on a team that makes a huge difference to our healthcare customers."
