Interstate 80 Construction Update for Sierra Corridor

PLACER/NEVADA/SIERRA COUNTIES - Caltrans is reminding motorists of various lane and ramp closures in multiple locations along Interstate 80 (I-80) as several projects and emergency repairs continue in Placer, Nevada and Sierra counties.

Motorists may experience delays up to a maximum of two hoursand are encouraged to factor in additional travel times along the I-80 Sierra corridor. Here is the breakdown for next week:

Eastbound I-80

  • Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project - Between Monte Vista and Drum Forebay, various lane closures will be in place around the clock beginning 5 a.m. Monday, July 15 through 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20.
  • Emergency Repairs Location 2
    • Between Drum Forebay and Whitmore, lane closures will be in place around the clock beginning 6 a.m. Monday, July 15 through noon Friday, July 19.
    • Between Blue Canyon and Emigrant Gap, lane and ramp closures will be in place 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 17 and Thursday, July 18.
  • Soda Springs Pavement Rehabilitation Project - Between Troy and Soda Springs, lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, July 15 through Thursday, July 18. Work is also scheduled from 6 a.m. to noon Friday, July 19.
  • Emergency Repairs Location 4 - Between State Route 89 and State Route 267, various ramp closures will be in place nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day Monday, July 15 and Tuesday, July 16. Work is scheduled to end at 6 a.m. Wednesday, July 17.
  • Floriston Safety Improvement Project and Emergency Repairs Location 5
    • Between Boca and Hinton Road, lane and ramp closures will be in place nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following day Sunday, July 14 through Thursday, July 17. Work is scheduled to end at 7 a.m. Friday, July 18.
    • Hinton Road and Floriston, lane closures will be in place from 8 p.m. Sunday, July 14 to noon Monday, July 15. Work is also scheduled nightly from 6 p.m. to noon the following day Monday, July 15 Thursday, July 18 ending at noon Friday, July 19.

Westbound I-80

  • Floriston Safety Improvement Project - Between Floriston and Hinton Road, lane closures will be in place from 8 p.m. Sunday, July 14 to 6 a.m. Monday, July 15. Work is also scheduled nightly from 2 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day Monday, July 15 through Thursday, July 18 ending at noon Friday, July 19.
  • Emergency Repairs Location 4
    • Between the Agriculture Inspection Station and Donner Lake Vista Point, lane and ramp closures will be in place around the clock beginning 7 p.m. Sunday, July 14 through noon Friday, July 19.
    • Between Donner Lake Interchange and Donner Summit, lane closures will be in place around the clock beginning 7 p.m. Sunday, July 14 through noon Friday, July 19.
  • Emergency Repairs Location 2 - Between Nyack and Blue Canyon Road, lane closures will be in place 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, July 15 and around the clock beginning 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 16 through noon Friday, July 19.
  • Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project - Between Drum Forebay and Monte Vista, lane closures will be in place nightly from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. the following day Monday, July 15 through Friday, July 19. Work is scheduled to end at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 20.

The extended lane closures will help to minimize the duration of the project, speed completion and improve workers' safety. For more information on each project visit Caltrans District 3 Current Projects. The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert" and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
