Everything you need to know about getting around campus and Nashville

Vanderbilt University community members have many options for getting around campus and Nashville, from walking to Centennial Park, taking free WeGopublic transitrides to Taste of Nashvillerestaurants, biking to Hillsboro Village and more. The Office of Transportation and Mobilitycan help with your daily travel decisions and maybe reduce your carbon footprint in the process. Check out the following resources to help you get where you need to go. 

WALKING

Walking is a fantastic way to navigate campus and the surrounding areas, and it offers numerous health and wellness benefits. While walking may not always be feasible because of weather conditions or other circumstances, every time you choose to commute to campus on foot, you're making a positive impact. When you have time, consider exploring nearby attractions such as Centennial Park, Taste of Nashville restaurants, Hillsboro Village and more-all within walking distance.

BIKING

Biking offers the most convenient and eco-friendly mode of transportation on campus, promoting personal health and well-being while reducing environmental impact. Individuals with personal bicycles are encouraged to register their bikeswith Vanderbilt University Public Safety. For those who don't have their own bike, Vanderbilt has partnered with Spinto provide an on-campus e-bike sharing optionfor on- and off-campus use. Additionally, Nashville's docked e-bikeshare system, BCycle,has two stations next to campus. Bicyclists must follow the circulation patterns on campus; yield to pedestriansto maintain physical distance; walk their bikes in dismount zones noted on campus, such as the 21st Avenue pedestrian bridges, Rand wall and Medical Center Plaza; and park responsibly at bike racks.

VANDYRIDE

A VandyRide 100% electric shuttle (Vanderbilt University)

VandyRide is a nighttime shuttle service for Vanderbilt students running from 5:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Real-time information about shuttles in operation is accessible on the VandySafe app. Once logged into the app, click on "Maps & VandyRide," then "VandyRide." VandyRide routes and stops may have changed from last year. You can view the new map on the Parking & Transportation website, on VandySafeor on Passio GO.

WEGO PUBLIC TRANSIT

WeGo Public Transit is Nashville's provider of local and regional bus and commuter rail service. Vanderbilt University provides all full-time and part-time Vanderbilt University students with free access to WeGo local buses, regional buses, local paratransit services and the WeGo Star commuter train through the "QuickTicket by WeGo" app. This service is available for any place and time, not just when commuting to and from campus.

RIDEHAIL

Ridehail services like Uber and Lyft can be used on campus, with easy pickup and drop-off at eight designated ridehail locations. The locations are marked with signs and are available to select in the Uber and Lyft mobile apps. The areas include E. Bronson Ingram Circle, Sarratt Student Center/Rand Hall, Kensington Place outside of the Kensington Garage, the Engineering and Science Building, Lot 24 near the Lewis House, Blakemore House, Crawford House and Hank Ingram House.
