Delegation of RUC Visited Hungary and Egypt

A delegation from Renmin University of China (RUC), led by Zheng Xinye, Vice President of RUC, visited Hungary and Egypt from June 7th to 13th, to mark the 75th anniversary of China-Hungary diplomatic relations and the 68th anniversary of China-Egypt diplomatic ties. The delegation's visit aimed to enhance cultural and educational exchanges and strengthen bilateral cooperation.<_o3a_p>

On June 7th, the delegation visited the Hungarian-Chinese Bilingual School and met with Principal Zsuzsanna Erdelyi. They discussed leveraging the strengths of both institutions to promote Sino-Hungarian cultural dialogue and cooperation. Zheng Xinye emphasized the unique role of the bilingual school in fostering cultural exchange and cultivating outstanding Chinese language talent, contributing to the deepening Sino-Hungarian relations. Both sides agreed to enhance academic exchanges through student and faculty visits and cultural activities.<_o3a_p>

On June 8th and 9th, Zheng Xinye participated in the 2024 "CSP & Mutual Learning Among Civilizations" series of academic events. These included the opening ceremony of the European Youth Scholars Roundtable under the New Sinology Program, the 2024 World Sinology Conference Council Meeting, and a Sinologist Exchange Conference. During the events, Zheng also officiated the establishment ceremony of the Youth Committee, presenting appointment letters to the committee members.<_o3a_p>

In his opening speech at the roundtable, Zheng highlighted the importance of the event in showcasing the achievements of the New Sinology Program over the past decade in Europe. He emphasized that the roundtable is a significant step in strengthening educational and cultural cooperation between China and Hungary. He hoped that the event would pave the way for future development in New Sinology and enhance Sino-Hungarian collaboration in education and culture, fostering friendship and mutual trust between the two nations.<_o3a_p>

At the 2024 World Sinology Conference Council Meeting and the Sinologist Exchange Conference, as well as during the Youth Committee establishment ceremony, Zheng Xinye reiterated the Youth Committee's role in offering youth perspectives on building a path to civilizational development. He emphasized the importance of continuous global cultural dialogue, the construction of an academic community with a shared future, and the exploration of Sinology's wisdom in addressing global challenges.<_o3a_p>

During the events, Zheng Xinye also held discussions with leaders from Eötvös Loránd University and the Chinese-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education, further promoting academic and cultural exchanges.<_o3a_p>

The delegation also visited the Budapest Chinese Cultural Center and met with Director Jin Hao to discuss ways to strengthen Sino-Hungarian educational and cultural exchange under the China-CEEC cooperation mechanism.<_o3a_p>

On June 10th, the delegation visited the Arab League Headquarters in Cairo and was received by Faraj Al-Ajmi, Director of the Education Department at the League of Arab States. They reviewed the close cooperation between China and Egypt in civilizational dialogue and educational research and explored future collaboration. Both parties expressed a desire to enhance cooperation in areas such as energy, food security, and climate change, and discussed signing a memorandum of understanding between China Renmin University and the Arab League.<_o3a_p>

On June 11th, the delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Egypt and met with Minister Zhang Tao, who provided an overview of Egypt's domestic situation and Sino-Egyptian relations. Both sides agreed on the importance of integrating various resources to participate in China's diplomacy and cultivate international experts.<_o3a_p>

The delegation also visited the Cairo Chinese Cultural Center and held discussions with Cultural Counselor Lu Chunsheng and Center Director Zhang Yi. They agreed that cultural exchanges should focus on youth, promoting cultural products that appeal to young people and reflecting contemporary global changes.<_o3a_p>

At the Cairo Chinese Cultural Center, the delegation held talks with Lu Chunsheng, Minister Counsellor at the Egyptian Embassy, and Zhang Yi, Cultural Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Egypt and Director of the Cairo Chinese Cultural Center. Both sides agreed that Sino-Egyptian cultural exchange should focus on the youth, promoting cultural products that attract and resonate with young people. <_o3a_p>

On June 12th, the delegation visited Ain Shams University and met with President Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen. They discussed strengthening cooperation in archaeology, linguistics, and artificial intelligence. Both sides agreed to form five collaborative teams and establish a regular contact mechanism to promote practical cooperation.<_o3a_p>

RUC remains committed to international cooperation and exchange. The visit to Hungary and Egypt aims to establish closer partnerships with educational and cultural institutions, cultivate talents with a global perspective, and contribute to addressing global challenges and fostering a community with a shared future for mankind.<_o3a_p>
