Europe House, in cooperation with renowned BiH photographer Almin Zrno, presented last night to an audience in Sarajevo a conceptual exhibition that questions the role of the modern man in today's society. Pleonexia II - Stolen Future brings the author's view of the importance of keeping the promise of reducing CO2 emissions and affecting the inevitable risks of global warming.

The unique conceptual exhibition of photographs and sculptures is the author's response to the necessity of continuous work on climate change issues and the selection of the City of Sarajevo as one of 100 climate-neutral and smart cities. The exhibition is realized as part of the EU Green Week initiative which aims to raise awareness of the EU's environmental policies and encourage dialogue and new collaborations towards more permanent and effective solutions to global climate challenges.

Ferdinand Koenig, Head of Communications of the EU Office in BiH underlined the EU's dedication to fighting the negative effects of climate change globally, but also in BiH. "I am very glad that Europe House is developing a strong reputation for hosting original and thought provoking exhibitions and Almin Zrno's Pleonexia II is no different. Everything that challenges us to think and act in a different way is extremely important because there is something we can all do to improve and protect our environment. The actions of individuals are important, and so are those of governments. The EU has high standards for the protection of the environment, and has set the objective of becoming climate neutral by 2050. To support BiH, the EU has invested 130 million euros in environmental project through IPA funds alone," said Koenig.

Almin Zrno, exhibition author noted that the consequences of global warming and climate change are clearly visible and that decisive actions are a necessity. "I hope that this exhibition will be able to communicate with all of us that the problems originate within us and that by changing ourselves we can change the surroundings and people responsible for protecting this planet that is our home. Our planet is lovely and it provides plenty for all of us. It is our duty to fight against greed, which is the theme of Pleonexia, otherwise, we will be fighting against all of its consequences," added Zrno.

Pleonexia II - stolen future is the latest exhibition in the Europe House Presents series, a new concept of cooperation between the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina and contemporary artists who have an opportunity to exhibit their works in a gallery located in the heart of Sarajevo. So far, within this concept, numerous exhibitions have been presented including works by Safet Zec, Mirko Ilić, Sarajevo Photography Festival, Photo BiH, Aida Redľepagić and Kristina Ljevak, POP UP!
