New Features for Updated Streets & Urban Forestry Website: Street Tree Inventory, Online Recyclopedia, and Simple Schedule Lookup

The Streets and Urban Forestry Division unveiled a new website today, October 30, 2024.

The redesigned site has three important new features for Madison residents.

On the Urban Forestry section, you can find an inventory of the trees along the public streets of Madison.

You can see a map of tens of thousands of trees along Madison public streets, learn what species they are, and the benefits they provide. This includes the trees in front of your home.

Check out our tree inventory page to view this map of the streetside trees and learn more about the tree inventory.

We have added a feature to the new Streets Division that will allow you to learn how to handle certain confusing material in your life.

Instead of a long list of individual pages, or a hard to search index on a PDF document, we have a new Madison Recyclopedia tool on our website that allows you to look up items.

Unsure if you should recycle something, or trash it, or maybe if you have something that has special disposal rules? Use the Madison Recyclopedia tool. We will continue to add items to this as well to make it as useful as possible.

Check this new feature out on our "How do I dispose of…?" page.

At long last, it will be easier for Madison residents to look up their trash and recycling schedule and their, brush and yard waste set-out dates.

You will be able to type your address into a single line on our website and get the dates you need.

This feature is available on the improved Streets and Urban Forestry homepage, and other locations on the site

Give us Feedback (and Pardon our Dust)

We worked hard to get the pages residents need up and running, but this is still a tech update so some things just might not be working as well as we hope at first. We also had to re-write all of the previous Streets and Urban Forestry Division webpages into this new format one page at a time, so you might find a typo or two we missed.

So, we want to hear from you to be sure we have this right.

If you can't find something on the new site, or spot something that isn't quite working as well as you hoped, please let us know.

At the bottom of each page, you can give feedback noting if the page is useful to you or not and you can provide a brief explanation as to why.

You can also email us at [email protected].

Or you can call us at either 608-246-4532 or 608-266-4681.
