Enforcement of School Bus Stop-Arm Safety Program Begins One Week From Today: Tuesday, October 1st

Buffalo, New York - City officials issued a reminder today that drivers who are caught illegally passing a stopped school bus in the City of Buffalo will be issued a ticket, beginning Tuesday, October 1st. Violators could face a $250 fine. This new initiative is part of a partnership between the City of Buffalo, Buffalo School District and BusPatrol to further enhance the safety of thousands of City students who rely on buses for daily transportation to and from school. Last spring, all school buses were equipped with stop arm cameras.

Today the City unveiled a public service announcement (PSA), in both English and Spanish, featuring Octavio Villegas, Executive Director of Buffalo's Traffic Violations Bureau, who reminded the motoring public that come October 1st the 90-day public awareness period officially ends, and enforcement begins.
