The Economic and Financial Terms Glossary Website Has Launched

The Bank of Mongolia, the University of Finance and Economics, and the Financial Regulatory Commission have jointly completed an update of the "Economic and Financial Terms Glossary." The new website toli.mongolbank.mn, was officially launched for public use on November 1, 2024.
This updated digital glossary has been released to mark the 100th anniversary of Mongolia's modern banking system, the 100th anniversary of the University of Finance and Economics, and the 30th anniversary of the Financial Regulatory Commission. The glossary features 11 categories with approximately 3,700 terms and definitions in both Mongolian and English. It was collaboratively developed over six months by a team of 37 scholars, faculty, researchers, and industry experts from the Bank of Mongolia, the Financial Regulatory Commission, and the University of Finance and Economics.

This glossary clarifies professional terminology, enabling consistent use and interpretation across economic and financial regulatory documents, contracts, training programs, and research efforts.
Key features of the glossary include:

  • Approximately 3,700 terms in 11 categories, with detailed explanations in both Mongolian and English.
  • Full digital availability, allowing users to reach the content anytime, anywhere.
  • Options for users to suggest new terms, provide feedback on translations and definitions, and contribute additional industry-relevant terminology.

The digital glossary will be integrated as a special section within the "Financial Education" app and will soon be available in print. Notably, the initial edition of the glossary was published in 2015, featuring around 1,300 terms in four categories, as part of the World Bank's "Multidisciplinary Technical Assistance Project," an initiative led by the Bank of Mongolia's Supervision Department.
