July 4th Fire and Police response

Grants Pass Fire Rescue, and Grants Pass Police were busy yesterday and early this morning responding to fireworks-related calls.

Grants Pass Fire Rescue responded to 10 calls for grass or trash fires that had started. Eight of the fires were likely caused by fireworks, and two this morning in or near trash receptacles were likely caused by improper disposal of fireworks. They also sent a Type 6 Engine to the Dead Indian Memorial Road Fire in Jackson County last night as part of the Rogue Valley 1 Strike Team.

Grants Pass Police responded to five calls between midnight and 1 am this morning, and 43 calls yesterday regarding people setting off fireworks.

Only fireworks that travel no higher than 12 inches from the ground or 6 horizontal feet are legal in Grants Pass, and only between the hours of 6 to 11 pm on July 4th. If you didn't set off all your fireworks yesterday, please save them until July 4, 2025.
