NC Bar Association elects RTI’s Eddie Story as corporate counsel section chair

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. - Nonprofit research institute RTI International announced that Eddie Story, executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, has been elected as the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) corporate counsel section chair for a one-year term.

"Eddie's election to this role reflects his service to the larger legal community and is a testament to Eddie's exceptional dedication, expertise and leadership," said RTI President and CEO Tim J. Gabel. "Eddie is a phenomenal legal resource, not just for RTI, but for his peers as well. "

Story oversees RTI's legal affairs including ethics, enterprise risk, regulatory compliance and internal audit. Before undertaking the role of general counsel in 2008, he served as assistant general counsel and assistant corporate secretary and previously had varying levels of responsibility for the contracting and procurement organizations within RTI. Before joining RTI in 1990, Story was a private practice attorney in Wilmington, North Carolina.

"I am honored to serve as section chair for 2024-2025," said Story. "We have an engaged and enthusiastic leadership team within the section, and our focus is seeking meaningful ways to involve membership across the State."

In addition to NCBA, Story is a member of various professional associations, including the Association of Corporate Counsel and Wake County Bar Association. He has been named among Business North Carolina's Legal Elite, a list of the state's top lawyers in business-related categories by Business North Carolina magazine for multiple years. He also received a Triangle Business Journal's Corporate Counsel of the Year Award.

Story is a member of the Advisory Board for the North Carolina Science Festival, an initiative of Morehead Planetarium and Science Center. He is also a recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, one of North Carolina's highest honors awarded to individuals for significant contributions to the state and their communities through their exemplary service and exceptional accomplishments.
