Downtown Officers Recovered a Firearm After a Shots Fired Call

At about 3:00 AM, on Monday, October 14, 2024, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) arrested Davon Olaes, 36, of Malden, on multiple firearm charges.

Officers responded to the area of 100 Warrenton Street for a report of a large fight. As officers were responding, there were updated by Boston Police Operations that a second call came in for shots fired inside the parking garage at 270 Tremont Street.

Officers were provided a description of a fleeing vehicle that was now parked outside of the parking garage. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and observed that the front passenger side door was open.

Officers made contact with the occupants and requested them to exit the vehicle. As the passenger exited the vehicle, he immediately fled the area and a foot pursuit ensued. Officers observed the suspect throw a firearm before slipping and falling. Officers were able to quickly place the suspect into handcuffs.

Officers returned to the vehicle and conducted a pat frisk. Officers recovered a box of .22 caliber ammunition from inside the vehicle. The firearm was later determined to be a DB9 Diamondback with one round in the chamber and two rounds in the magazine.

Officers began to search the parking garage for a potential crime scene or victims. Officers did not locate any injured parties, but located ballistic evidence with multiple spent shell casings.

Olaes was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, and Two Counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
