Single Car Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision on Southern State Parkwa...

On Monday, October 14th, 2024, at around 8:50 p.m., the New York State Police responded to a one car motor vehicle collision into the trees on Southern State Parkway Eastbound West of Exit 29, Town of North Massapequa, Nassau County. Upon arrival, Troopers observed a 2003 Nissan 350z engulfed in flames with a male lying outside of the vehicle deceased, later identified as the operator Brayan Antonio Benitez-Benitez age 21 of Mineloa. Inside the vehicle was an unidentified passenger who had suffered fatal injuries. Investigation revealed excessive speed was a contributing factor.

The New York state Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) responded to the scene assist in the investigation.
