An Aboriginal Art Trail will be on display across Temora Art Centre, Temora Shire Library and Bundawarrah Centre from 1 June, running until 31 July 2024.

Works will include pieces from Wiradjuri artists, as well as other local Aboriginal artists current residing on Wiradjuri country.

mayinyguwalgu ngunggiridya "I will share with other people" sculptures by Wiradjuri artist Aunty Lorraine Tye, and animations by Wiradjuri, Ngiyampaa, Barkandji, and Walbunga artists and non-Aboriginal creatives together share three stories across the locations:

• walan gugaa | "strong goanna" (at Temora Arts Centre) tells the story of how Wiradjuri people became a matriarchal society and the importance of having a strong identity.
• Pomingalarna and Gobbagumbalun (at Temora Shire Library) is about listening to elders and following their advice. It tells of the consequences of not following that advice as young couple turn into frogs.
• wirramari "big fish" (at Bundawarrah Centre) the story of how the Marrambidya (Murrumbidgee River) was formed by the mighty Murray Cod.

Temora Shire's Aboriginal Artwork guuga "goanna" (funded from Australia Day 2024 Community Grants Program), and gaagumarra "Embrace" by Wiradjuri artist Stewart James and the Temora community. Guuga will be displayed across all three sites and locally, and you'll find gaagumarra as part of the permanent collection at the Bundarwarrah Centre.

Temora High School Aboriginal Education Team, who contributed to our keepsake guuga artwork, have also kindly offered their recent reconciliation works, which will give audiences a taste of our local arts and culture.

The Dots by Designz exhibition of ceramics and textiles will be hosted at the Bundawarrah Centre, from 28 June - 31 July, Dots by Designz is a joint project by Anmatyerr sisters Eisha and Sandy Kemarr from Arrunge "Morning Star" in the Northern Territory. Eisha is currently residing in Temora Shire and many may know her face from the Arts Centre where she mentors' ceramic making on a Monday afternoon.

The public can also create your own dots designz with Eisha on bookmarks and greeting cards for just $5 per person in her workshops at the Bundawarrah Centre in July. For more details visit temora.com.au

Both the NGA collection and Aboriginal Art Trail will be celebrated with an official opening on Saturday, 1 June 2024, from 10am until 1pm. To commemorate this special occasion, Temora Arts Centre and Temora Shire Council would like to formally invite the public to attend. The opening will also include morning tea infused with Aboriginal flavours by Temora Youth Hospitality team.
