Washington - Today, Congressman Lance Gooden applauded the passage of his bipartisan Federal Judiciary Stabilization Act (FJSA), legislation introduced alongside Representative Ted Lieu (D-CA), Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), and Senator Mazie Hirono (D-HI). This important bill transitions 10 existing temporary federal judgeships to permanent status, providing much-needed stability and efficiency to America's federal court system.
"The Federal Judiciary Stabilization Act is a commonsense solution to ensure the efficient operation of our nation's courts," said Congressman Gooden. "By making these judgeships permanent, we allow our judicial system to function without unnecessary disruptions. This legislation doesn't create new judgeships or shift the balance of power-it simply ensures our courts can serve the American people effectively and fairly. I am grateful for Senator Cruz's support on my bill and look forward to this becoming law in the coming weeks."
The 10 affected judicial districts include:
-
Alabama-Northern
-
Arizona
-
California-Central
-
Florida-Southern
-
Hawaii
-
Kansas
-
Missouri-Eastern
-
New Mexico
-
North Carolina-Western
-
Texas-Eastern
"These judgeships are vital to addressing backlogs and ensuring timely access to justice," Gooden continued. "I'm proud to have worked to advance this bipartisan bill, which strengthens our judiciary and serves the needs of every American, regardless of party or state."
