Man Arrested for Unlawful Imprisonment, Assault in South Seattle

Seattle Police arrested a man for unlawful imprisonment and assault in South Seattle three weeks ago.

On July 23rd at about 6:00 p.m., patrol officers responded to a report of possible auto theft with a knife in the 3900 block of South Othello Street.

Officers were provided with a vehicle description and quickly located the 45-year-old suspect and arrested him. He was armed with a three and 1/2-inch knife.

While investigating, police learned the involved parties knew each other. After picking his friend up to hang out, the victim reported the suspect held him at knifepoint against his will and forced him to drive to a nearby bank.

The victim, 34, managed to escape to safety. He believes he may have been cut by the knife in a defensive swipe while fleeing the vehicle. He sustained a minor injury to his hand.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail for Unlawful Imprisonment and Assault in lieu of $100,000 bail.

This case has been assigned to the Homicide & Assault Unit.
