Update: Suspects Arrested, Charged in Fatal Stabbing at 6900 Avenue S

July 1, 2024- Two suspects wanted and charged in the fatal stabbing of a male found at 6900 Avenue S about 3:20 p.m. on January 22 are in custody.

Jose Fernando Gallo-Aguirre, 20, and Karen Dayana Olaya-Amador, 23, are charged with capital murder in the 351st State District Court and credit card abuse in the 337th State District Court. Booking photos of both suspects are attached to this news release.

Both suspects are accused in the death of Paulino Argueta, 51.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives D. Lunceford and D. Davis reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a report of a person lying in the street and found the victim in the roadway, unresponsive, and suffering from a stab wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim, later identified as Mr. Argueta, deceased at the scene.

A preliminary investigation determined a red Toyota Tacoma pickup truck with a black toolbox in the bed was seen leaving the area and was sought. Additional investigation identified the two persons of interest.

Further investigation identified the persons of interest as Gallo-Aguirre and Olaya-Amador. In February, both suspects were charged with credit card abuse. Subsequent investigation determined Gallo-Aguirre and Olaya-Amador fled the Houston area. HPD homicide detectives worked with the U.S. Marshal's Services and the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force to locate them. On May 20, Gallo-Aguirre was arrested in the Las Vegas, Nevada area and was subsequently charged with capital murder.

Last Friday (June 28), Olaya-Amador was arrested in the Greenville, South Carolina area and was charged for her role in Argueta's death.

Argueta's red Toyota Tacoma pickup truck remains missing and detectives would like to speak to anyone with information on the whereabouts of the vehicle.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the missing Toyota Tacoma or in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or speak to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
