NorthWestern Energy's Commitment to Clean Energy:

NorthWestern Energy acquired its Montana hydro facilities in 2014 from PPL Montana.

Today, nearly 36% of the electricity supplied to our Montana customers comes from hydroelectricity, with almost 60% of our energy supply sourced from carbon-free generation.

Ryan Dam: A Historic and Renewable Energy Landmark

Ryan Dam, adjacent to Ryan Island Park, has been a significant contributor to Montana's renewable energy landscape since its construction in 1915. Located just 10 miles downstream of Great Falls on the Missouri River, this facility is a testament to the enduring power of hydroelectric energy.

We invite the community to join us in celebrating a decade of clean energy at NorthWestern Energy. This event is a unique opportunity to learn more about how hydroelectric power contributes to flood control, irrigation, stable river flows, and some of the best fishing in the state.
