Racing and Sports Menangle Mail - July 6

5 July 2024

Quality pacer Taipo will be on trial for some bigger targets when he chases back-to-back wins at Menangle on Saturday night.

Smart trotter London To A Brick also chases a hat trick of Menangle wins but faces a new challenger with Victoria Oaks winner Shes Ruby Roo returning to Sydney.

Race-by-race preview of Menangle, Saturday July 6

Race 1: CK RECRUITMENT PACE

BLUTO (10) draws widest but he has gate speed and is a talented gelding in good form. Zipped away from the mobile and led to score here two back before a 1.4m second a fortnight ago. The winner of that race has franked the form by beating a good field since. Can prove too good for these. JILLIBY NITRO (9) returned to winning form here two back before clocking in second last week. Draws deep but is building a handy record at this venue and distance. HEAVENLY HOLLY (1) has been freshened since her last outing but has won a trial in that time and is aided by the ace draw. TUPPENCE (3) was held up when midfield last time and had put together a string of placings before that. Can be competitive from a low draw.

Race 2: ST JOHNS PARK BOWLING CLUB PACE

TAIPO (8) is a smart pacer who returned to winning form in his latest appearance, crossing from a similar draw to lead before going on to score by 1.3m. Building a strong record at the circuit and distance. Can go back-to-back. BROOKLYN BRIDGE (2) faded to midfield after leading when fresh last week but he flies second up with four wins and a placing from five attempts. Strikes at 50 per cent at this shorter distance and draws better so expect big improvement. MAX DELIGHT (9) has been freshened since a midfield effort in the Treuer Memorial but has been kept up to the mark with a trial. Came from this draw and placed behind topliner Swayzee here three back. Major player. PETES SAID SO (11) draws deep again but is close to a win off back-to-back seconds.

Race 3: MICHELLE ROFFE FUNERAL SERVICES PACE

GOLDEN BAY (7) disappointed over further when midfield as favourite last week but his other two starts over this distance this time in were strong, recording a win and a second at this venue. Could bounce back returning to the mile. BARTELLO (9) has been racing in terrific form and completed a winning hat trick at this circuit when scoring two back. Stepped up to this grade last week and fought well to miss by a head. Draws deep but hard to knock his form. SPECULATING (2) is going well having placed last week to follow a win from this barrier. he can make an impact again. ULTIMATE BIRD (6) was a beaten favourite at Newcastle last start but had won two of his other three starts at this circuit since spell. Respect.

Race 4: MACARTHUR TRAVEL AND CRUISE CENTRE PACE

LOUS DREAM (5) had a tough draw in his latest outing at Penrith so it may pay to overlook that result. Had looked close to a win when placed in his previous two outings at this circuit so can bounce back. CORBIE STUMBLER (6) enjoyed a class drop when he came from a wider barrier to win his latest outing at Newcastle. Was only a head behind Lous Dream when he placed here two back and races well at this distance. Big chance. CAPTAIN RITCHIE (10) has been back to the trials since he broke when resuming. Has to contend with the widest draw but his best form measures up. IM ROCKIN IT (3) overcame a wide passage to score last start at Wagga and was consistent before that. Include from the low draw.

Race 5: KIDS OF MACARTHUR HEALTH FOUNDATION 4&5YO TROT NSW FINAL (GROUP 2)

LONDON TO A BRICK (5) is racing in fine form and is shooting for the hat trick. He has been impressive in his last two wins here, racing wide but proving too good both times. Draws a couple of spots lower than in last week's 7.3m victory and owns a strong strike rate at this shorter distance. Hard to stop. SHES RUBY ROO (4) is a quality mare who had little luck from the back row last time at Melton and scored well at that venue two back. Won at this circuit and distance during her last Sydney visit in the autumn. Danger. JUNGLE EYES (6) led from a wide barrier and faded last time but won from a tricky draw two back so can play a role. ONAWINGANDAPRAYER (1) is next best from the ace draw.

Race 6: MACARTHUR ENGINEERING TROTTERS DISCRETIONARY HANDICAP

VICTREE HILL (14) did a good job when returning after two months last week, leading and boxing on to finish second at this circuit and distance. That continued a string of placings and he should be better for the outing. He is capable of overcoming the 20m handicap in what looks a suitable assignment. THEBESTBOURBON (1) had looked close to a win when she placed here two back then drew deep and raced wide last start so prepared to forgive that. Well positioned on the front mark so is worth another chance. SUNNY GEE (11) beat Thebestbourbon when he scored here three back so measures right up with his A-game. SPEEDY LOVER (5) backs up after racing wide to place here on Tuesday. Worth including.

Race 7: COMMUNITY LINKS WELLBEING 2YO TROT NSW FINAL (GROUP 2)

RAINBOW JESTER (6) is a talented colt who took his record to five from six when he came from this same barrier to win the 2YO Trotters Foundation Final by 6m here last week. Has beaten all of these rivals in recent starts and it won't be easy for any of them to turn the tables. MONTY MONTE (7) has come from similar draws to place behind Rainbow Jester in his last two outings but did beat that rival in one of two wins he landed at this circuit earlier in the campaign. Expect him to play a role again. Manners are proving a problem for MAJESTIC FUNDS (3) but he placed here the last time he got it right. SECOND TO NUN (2) is a trifecta hope from a low draw.

Race 8: ADCO TRAILERS PTY LTD PACE

OOGA CHAKA (5) steps out for new trainer David Aiken and arrives in Sydney on the cusp of a win, placing in both outings in Queensland since a spell. Decent effort for third last start at Albion Park and looks to have found a suitable race so can make an immediate impact for the new yard. JOE NIEN (3) hasn't been too far off the placings of late, finishing fourth two back and just over 6m from the winner last week. Expect another good showing from a favourable draw. TITIAN RAIDER (4) should find this easier than the most recent attempt and did manage a second in this grade here last month. WAVETHEBILL (9) placed last start at Newcastle and while drawn wide it wouldn't surprise to see him feature.

BEST BETS:

Race 1 #10 Bluto - Has the speed to negate the wide draw and can prove too good for these.

Race 6 #14 Victree Hill- Consistent trotter fitter for last week's second so can go one better.
