City of Titusville declares local state of emergency ahead of Hurricane Milton.

TITUSVILLE, Fla. (October 8, 2024) - The City of Titusville has officially declared a local state of emergency as of 12:00 p.m. today, in preparation for Hurricane Milton. Mayor Daniel E. Diesel signed the declaration which affords the city the ability to expedite purchases of necessary equipment and materials ahead of the hurricane's arrival. The city will activate its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on Wednesday, October 9 at 8:00 a.m., and it will remain operational throughout the duration of the storm.

The city will cease normal operations at 3:00 p.m. today, and City Hall and all city offices will remain closed Wednesday and Thursday, October 9 and 10. The city expects to reopen for normal operations on Friday, October 11, at 8:00 a.m.

Additionally, the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and Regular City Council meetings scheduled for tonight have been rescheduled for Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. respectively. Also, the Titusville Environmental Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday, October 9 has been cancelled.

Sandbags will remain available at 385 N. Singleton Avenue until 5:00 p.m. or while supplies last. Brevard County sandbag operations will continue at Chain of Lakes Park until 6:00 p.m. or while supplies last. Citizens are urged to make their final preparations today before the effects of the storm reach our area.
