On August 15, 2024, at about 4:00 p.m., State Police of Latham responded to the area of the Patroon Island Bridge (I-90) in Albany, NY, for the reports of an individual threatening to jump. Before arriving on scene, the individual, who has been identified as Jordan R. Miklowitz, 35, of Schenectady, NY, jumped and was located below the bridge on I-787 deceased. State Police were assisted on the scene by the Albany County Sheriff's Office and the Albany City Police Department. I-787 northbound was closed in the area of exit 5 for approximately three and a half hours for the investigation before being reopened. I-787 southbound was also closed briefly.

During the course of the investigation, Troopers of SP Princetown patrolled to Miklowitz's home on Morris Avenue in Schenectady, NY, which he shares with his parents. Inside the house, David J. Miklowitz, 75, and Kathryn Milkowitz, 73, were located deceased. An autopsy of David and Kathryn was conducted on today's date at Ellis Hospital by Dr. Ing. The manners of death have been classified as homicide, and the cause of death were injuries resulting from blunt force trauma. State Police were assisted at this scene by the Schenectady Police Department and the Schenectady County District Attorney's Office.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined these incidents are related. Due to statements made by Jordan Miklowitz before his death and additional evidence collected, he is the primary suspect in the homicide investigation. Both investigations are ongoing, and there is believed to be no threat to the public.
