Introducing 'Re-Gown It!: Reuse or Donate a Graduation Gown' program

November 27, 2024

Students from the Campus Sustainability Planning Studio course have partnered with the Career Services Center to launch Western's first graduation gown donation and re-use program! The program is designed to help make graduation more affordable and sustainable by giving gowns a new life cycle and reducing single-use waste on campus. During Spring 2024 Commencement, we received over 220 gowns and other regalia, all of which will be available for students to borrow for future ceremonies.

Want to get a used graduation gown for fall commencement?

Stop by the Career Services Center now until December 14th to check out the inventory. The Center is in Old Main 280 and open from 9am-4pm Monday through Friday. Regalia is available on a first come, first served basis.

Have you already bought your cap and gown, but don't see a future use for it?

Keep an eye out for large white donation bins during fall commencement, which will be located in Red Square, outside Carver Gym, and outside the Wade King Rec Center. You can also drop off your regalia after the ceremony any time at the Career Services Center, or send it in by mail to the following address if you're leaving Bellingham. Alumni from the past five years are also welcome to send in their old regalia.
