Medical examiner determines January prison death was suicide

The death of Michael Quinto on January 8 at Alexander Correctional Institution in Taylorsville was a suicide, according to a final determination by the N.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The death of Michael Quinto #0708383 on January 8 at Alexander Correctional Institution in Taylorsville was a suicide, according to a final determination by the N.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Quinto, 41, was first believed to have died from medical causes, but a recent autopsy report determined the manner of death was suicide.

Quinto was convicted in Brunswick County in 2001 and was serving two consecutive life sentences for two counts of first degree murder, plus more than 20 additional years for two counts of attempted murder and assault on a government officer.
