Community Invited to Review Magnuson Park Pickleball Court Project Design Concepts

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) invites the community to participate to review and provide feedback on the design concepts for the Pickleball Court Planning project at Warren G. Magnuson Park. Please join us for a community engagement session on Thursday, September 5th, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the Magnuson Community Center, located at 7110 62nd Avenue NE.

This is an exciting opportunity for community members to meet the design team and view the initial concepts for dedicated pickleball courts at the park. The proposed project site is the former Children's Hospital park-and-pool lot, located to the north of NE 65th Street. The current project budget allows for the construction of 8 to 10 pickleball courts with lighting. SPR anticipates the courts will open by late 2026.

"We are excited to bring this project to the community and hear your thoughts on the design concepts," said AP Diaz, Seattle Parks and Recreation Superintendent. "Pickleball is a rapidly growing sport in Seattle, and these courts will provide a dedicated space for players of all ages and skill levels."

SPR plans to amend the park's master plan to accommodate a more extensive development, with at least 16 to 18 courts and a potential ultimate buildout of 24 lighted courts through additional grant or donation funding. As of now, no additional SPR funding is allocated for this expanded vision.
