The City of San Marcos invites residents and businesses to apply for the Electrical Vehicle Charging Station (EVCS) Grant Rebate Program to reduce gas emissions and help further the City's Climate Action Plan sustainability goals. As of July 2024, the City has issued rebates for 211 residential properties, which will result in the installation of 211 Level 2 EV chargers in various homes throughout San Marcos.
The rebate grant program encourages residents and businesses to shift from gas to electric vehicles and promotes a sustainable lifestyle. There are two types of rebate grants available in San Marcos: residential and commercial/non-residential.
Residential rebates up to $900 per charger are available to single family residences, multi-family apartments, condominiums and affordable housing projects. Commercial (non-residential) rebates of up to $1,800 per charger are available to businesses and non-profit organizations. Residents and businesses can apply the rebate towards the cost of EVCS equipment and installation.
"The prioritization of sustainability efforts is always top of mind here at San Marcos because we strive to be a leader in minimizing our carbon footprint," shared Mayor Rebecca Jones. "We are grateful for resources like the EVCS program that give back to our community and offer incentives to encourage our community members to share in our value of environmental stewardship."
The application and self-certification form for the EVCS rebate grant is located on the City's sustainability landing page and must be fully completed with all required attachments.
