Baker McKenzie Expands Tax Practice with the Addition of Nadja Ruiz in Mexico

With government tax audits and reviews on the rise in Mexico, Firm expands its Mexican international tax advisory and tax controversy bench with former SAT official

Global law firm Baker McKenzie announced today that Nadja Ruiz has joined the Firm as a partner in its North America Tax Practice Group. A prolific tax lawyer and former public official in Mexico, she joins the Tax practice in the Firm's Mexico City office.

Nadja joins Baker McKenzie from a Big Four accounting firm, where she handled tax advisory and controversy matters. She is a former member of the Mexico Tax Administration, Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT), where she served as Head of International Tax Legal Affairs and Chief Advisor to the Mexican Commissioner. In addition to her expertise in international tax matters, she brings extensive tax controversy experience as well as first-hand insights into SAT's compliance monitoring and auditing strategy.

Nadja's practice focuses on both domestic and international tax advisory and controversy matters, including conclusive agreements, mutual agreement procedures, bilateral APAs, FATCA reporting, exchange of information and tax transparency issues. She also advises financial institutions on their SAT-required filings with respect to account holders or investors.
