MPD Investigating Fatal Shooting in Northeast

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in Northeast.

On Thursday, July 18, 2024, at approximately 3:30 p.m., members of the Fifth District responded to the report of a shooting in the 2000 block of Bryant Street, Northeast. Officers located a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where all life-saving efforts failed and the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 26-year-old Hassan Kamara Jr. of Takoma Park, MD.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
