What to expect as a student at ArcBest

Depending on the type of role you're looking for, we offer internships and student worker positions for high school and college students. Internships are seasonal and are typically project-focused roles. Student worker spots are steadier and more flexible, available year-round for those who want to get experience while attending classes.

Compensation and credit

All of our opportunities for students are paid, and depending on your school's requirements, some of these roles might even snag you some educational credit. Talk with your school counselor, advisor or internship coordinator to see if your position here can count on your transcript.

Most interns are from schools or hometowns near our campuses, but for some specialized roles, like those in robotics or engineering, we often help coordinate travel and housing to ensure a smooth transition.

Training and onboarding

Interns typically come to us with little or no experience in the logistics industry or their chosen field, but we provide training and onboarding to help them prepare for the role. Depending on the position, training programs could include in-person or online classes, departmental orientations or on-the-job shadowing. We want you to understand the company and your role so you can meaningfully contribute.

Flexibility and balance

Since internships typically occur seasonally during school breaks, those positions follow a standard Monday through Friday workday schedule. Year-round student workers have flexible schedules that can vary from semester to semester, allowing them to balance their academic commitments with their time at ArcBest. We want to make it easy for you to gain work experience and development without compromising your education.
