Age Strong Blog: ABCD North End

By Sophia Wang, Age Strong Staff

Age Strong staff recently visited the Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD)'s North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center, located at 1 Michelangelo Street in the North End.

ABCD is an Age Strong Title III (Older Americans Act) grant recipient providing older adults (age 60+) with food resources, wellness classes, group activities, special events, assistance with applying for public benefits, and access to case management services.

The center operates a daily food pantry from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with monthly access to those eligible as well as food donated from Star Market on Mondays and Fridays, which participants can access as much as necessary.

ABCD also operates a food pantry out of the West End Library at 151 Cambridge Street on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., and sends food supplies to older adult residents at the nearby Amy Lowell Apartments twice a month. ABCD also hopes to open a new stand alone location in the West End this coming January, which would also house the West End Civic Association and the West End Community Center.
