DEMOCRATS FIDDLE AS CONNECTICUT BURNS

MIDDLETOWN - Recent reports show that Connecticut is lagging behind the rest of the country in terms of job and wages growth. Approximately 40% of Connecticut households live paycheck to paycheck. In addition, Connecticut families are paying $1,136 more per month for the same items as they were in January 2021.

"Unfortunately, we, in Connecticut, are suffering through some horrendous decision-making from Democrats in both Hartford and Washington," said Connecticut Republican Chairman Ben Proto. "The worse the news gets, the worse the decision-making coming out of the Governor's office, the legislature, PURA, Department of Labor, and the myriad of other state agencies.

"To further showcase the favoritism Democrats play with their special interests, since January 2019, state employees have gotten a 33% pay raise, and most employees need to be at their workstations only one day a week, while the hard-working men and women in Connecticut have seen their real wages not keep up with inflation, covering less of their monthly costs", said Proto.

"What solutions do the Democrats offer? They refuse to call for a special session to mitigate citizens' higher electric costs. They can address the issue right now. However, some brazen Democrats pleaded with the governor not to call for a special session to address the unbelievably expensive electric costs until after the election. If that's not playing partisan games with people's finances, I don't know what is," continued Proto.

Homeowner insurance policies are expected to increase in 2024 to an average of almost $2,000/year. Auto insurance will be even higher, with an average increase of nearly 11%, twice the national average.

"We all know the definition of insanity - doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different outcome. The Governor and legislative Democrats have an opportunity to change how they address real problems with significant changes, yet they continue to double down on failure," continued Proto.

"Connecticut is at its breaking point, and we simply can't take it anymore," continued Proto. "We must change direction for our state, families, friends, and neighbors' future."

"Together, we can change Connecticut. Together, we can ensure Connecticut's future, but only if we make some hard choices and elect new, vibrant leadership in Hartford and Washington. We need sound solutions that the Republican Party has been offering for years. We can change Connecticut, but only if we are willing to change who represents us in Hartford and Washington," concluded Proto.
