UW Oshkosh Day of Giving surpasses $100,000 goal in support of students
Alumni and friends of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh responded in a big way to this year's Titans Day of Giving campaign-raising a total of $105,674 from 414 donors.
"We are thrilled with the overwhelming response received from so many members of our Titan community in support of UWO students and programs during our 2024 Titans Day of Giving," said Christine Gantner, director of University Advancement. "This collective generosity and endorsement go a long way in not only providing necessary financial support but also reminds students of the supportive community they have around them in their pursuit of their educational goals."
Support came from 252 alumni, 84 faculty/staff, 70 parents, 32 friends and six students, though some donors selected more than one area of affiliation.
Titans Day of Giving is a virtual event held on September 12, the anniversary of the first day of classes in 1871, at what was once known as Oshkosh Normal School. The Day of Giving offers an opportunity for alumni and friends of the university to make a gift to an area of campus that is meaningful to them.
"It is incredible to see the ways donors supported UWO," Chancellor Andrew Leavitt said. "Donors gave to colleges, specific academic majors, athletic programs, student experiences and an array of scholarships. They challenged us to match their gifts, and people responded. Thank you to everyone who showed their pride and connection to UWO and gave in so many different ways to make Titans Day of Giving a tremendous success."
A step ahead
Funds are raised to support a variety of academic, athletics and campus initiatives. The giving event reminds alumni and friends of the impact UW Oshkosh has had on their lives and allows donors to support Titans who will be leaders of tomorrow.
Several alumni, faculty and friends of the university offered incentives-many were dollar-for-dollar-to boost giving.
"Thank you to those who offered matches and challenges to help us gain momentum and allow other donors' gifts to go twice as far," Gantner said.
The campaign ended Sept. 15, but gifts to UW Oshkosh may still be made here.
The momentum at UWO continues with many events taking place on campus this fall, including Homecoming activities happening Oct. 18-19.
