O'Connell and City of Taunton Honor Attorney David Gay with Community Service Award at 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

Taunton, MA - Mayor Shaunna O'Connell is proud to announce that Attorney David Gay has been awarded the "Making A Difference" Community Service Award during the annual City of Taunton 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony. This award is presented each year to an individual who exemplifies dedication, selflessness, and a commitment to improving the lives of others in our community. Attorney Gay stands as a shining example of these values.

"David Gay has dedicated his life to service, integrity, and compassion. His contributions to our community are immeasurable, and I am honored to call him a friend and colleague. We are proud to recognize him with the City of Taunton's 'Making A Difference' Community Service Award," said Mayor O'Connell.

David Gay has dedicated his life to serving both his country and his community. His distinguished career began with honorable service in the United States Navy, where he served as a Military Judge and was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for Outstanding Professional Achievement. His contributions to our nation are matched only by his unwavering commitment to serving his community in Taunton.

In addition to his military service, Attorney Gay has been a pillar of the legal community, in both private and public practice, serving as the City Solicitor for the City of Taunton, attorney for the Taunton School Committee, and legal counsel for the Diocese of Fall River. In each of these roles, Attorney Gay has demonstrated his legal expertise and dedication to ensuring the well-being of the community. He has received the Massachusetts Bar Association Distinguished Attorney award and in September of 2011 was awarded the St. Thomas More medal by the Diocese of Fall River.

Locally, Attorney Gay has led numerous organizations that provide life-changing opportunities and services to countless individuals. He served as a leader of the Peter B. Gay Lodge and chaired the Board of Trustees for the Columbia Cultural Trust for many years. In addition, he has contributed his expertise to the Morton Hospital Board of Trustees and served as Chairman of the Morton Health Foundation.

Attorney Gay's passion for service extends to his work with the Greenlock Therapeutic Riding Center, a charitable organization that provides therapeutic services to disabled children and adults. He also served on the Board of the Old Colony YMCA and supported youth sports as a coach and officer for the Taunton West Little League and the Taunton Area Babe Ruth League.
