The Railway Protection Force (RPF) will hold a series of commemorative events culminating in a day-long program at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi on October 28, 2024, to honour the memory and sacrifice of police martyrs. These observances, will be held in conjunction with Police Commemoration Week (October 21-30), reflect the RPF's commitment to recognizing the courage, dedication, and sacrifices made by its personnel.

The commemorative events began on October 21, 2024, in line with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to share the stories of selflessness and valour of martyrs with the nation, especially in the communities where they were raised and educated. As part of these initiatives, the RPF honoured the families of its martyrs across nine states, with ceremonies held in local communities such as panchayats and schools where these heroes once studied. These heartfelt gatherings fostered a strong bond between the RPF and the communities, ensuring the martyrs' legacies continue to inspire the next generation.

Day-long Program at the National Police Memorial

The concluding day of events on October 28 which has been allotted to RPF will feature two main sessions: morning and evening, each dedicated to celebrating and commemorating the RPF's brave martyrs.

Morning Session (10:00 AM - 1:00 PM):

Families of the martyrs will be given a guided visit to the National Police Museum, Wall of Valour, and the National Rail Museum. During their visit to the National Police Memorial, they will be briefed on the vital role of the Central Police Forces in national security and the historical contributions of RPF personnel to the growth, operation, and security of Indian Railways at the iconic National Rail Museum.

Evening Session:

The evening session will be graced by the presence of Shri Ravneet Singh, Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries, who will preside over the event at the National Police Memorial. Senior officials from the Railway and RPF, along with dignitaries from various fields, will join in paying homage to the Central Sculpture, a symbol of valour representing the sacrifice of over 36,000 police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

The Union Minister will also lay a wreath at the Central Sculpture in honour of the police martyrs, followed by a special ceremony to felicitate the families of RPF martyrs. The evening will also feature a band display and a video presentation showcasing the valour, sacrifice, and dedication of RPF personnel.

Release of the "Compendium of Martyrs in RPF

As a tribute to the martyrs, The Union Minister will release the "Compendium of Martyrs in RPF," an anthology of 157 inspiring stories of extraordinary sacrifice by RPF martyrs. This document, which honours the memory of 1,087 RPF personnel who gave their lives in the line of duty, serves as a powerful reminder of the values of duty, honour, and selflessness that define the RPF. A soft copy of the compendium will also be made available on the RPF website, inviting everyone to reflect on these remarkable tales of bravery.
