City Council To Recognize Local Law Enforcement Hero
Local Veteran Groups Will Also Be Recognized
The Las Vegas City Council will recognize a local law enforcement officer who put himself in danger to help rescue a driver from a fiery car crash in June. The recognition will take place at the Aug. 7, 2024, City Council meeting that will begin following the 8:30 a.m. Redevelopment Agency meeting in Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall, located at 495 S. Main St.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Officer Christopher Allen was among the first to arrive on the scene of a fiery crash on the Clark County 215 near Jones Boulevard in the northwest on June 20, 2024. The crash involved multiple vehicles and resulted from a motorist driving the wrong way on the freeway. Without thinking of his own safety, Officer Allen assisted drivers and made sure that they were away from the fire. Ward 6 Councilwoman Nancy Brune will recognize Officer Allen as the August city of Las Vegas Citizen of the Month.
In addition, Ward 3 Councilwoman Olivia Diaz will recognize the community service of two local veterans groups, The Armed Forces Chamber of Commerce and Veterans In Politics.
The meeting will be broadcast live on cable channel 2, and at www.kclv.tv/live.
Public comment will be available for items on the agenda until 5 p.m. Aug. 6, at www.lasvegasnevada.gov/councilcomment. Those wishing to comment on items on the council agenda are invited to do so online, or to attend the meeting in person and participate in the public comment periods.
