2024 Construction Season Enters Final Stretch

To help prepare for growth and build a more vibrant community, the City of Regina continues its work on these major construction projects:

Dewdney Avenue Corridor Revitalization Project

The intersection of Albert Street and Dewdney Avenue will reopen on October 2, 2024. Traffic restrictions remain on Dewdney. Construction will continue moving east on Dewdney from Albert Street for the next several weeks to complete water and sewer work. This work takes place 8.5 metres or about 28 feet underground. Even though construction continues along Dewdney, all businesses remain open and ready to serve customers. Two-way traffic will be maintained, where possible. Visitors to the District should use the Dewdney access off Broad Street and free parking is available in The Yards via Hamilton and Scarth.

Southwest Sewer Upgrade Project

Crews continue to install a large-diameter sewer pipeline, mostly within AE Wilson Park. The Rick Hansen Optimist Playground, adjacent pathways and most of the parking lot off McCarthy Boulevard and Brunskill Place are closed through the month of October to maintain a safe construction site. The City has coordinated maintenance work on the rubber playing surface of the playground during this closure. Residents are encouraged to visit the other accessible playgrounds throughout Regina. A list of these locations can be found here. Washrooms at Rick Hansen Optimist Playground are closed for the season.

Water Network Expansion Project

Contractors continue to install the water main along Ring Road, between Broad and McDonald Street. Reinstatement of the Ring Road expressway lighting will also be occurring between Ross Avenue and McDonald Street. Traffic restrictions remain on Ring Road and drivers are reminded to watch for signage as active work zones shift with the crews.

11th Avenue Revitalization Project

The work on 11th Avenue for this year is in its final stage with road and sidewalk remediation over the next several weeks. For the winter months, transit service on 11th Avenue will resume. The City will share more details about the transit changes in the near future.

The City makes every effort to minimize impacts on residents through extensive planning and coordination. Advanced signage will be in place to help drivers navigate construction zones and keep construction workers safe. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead by visiting the Road Report at Regina.ca/Roads and allow extra travel time. These road closures and restrictions will integrate directly into Waze, which populates closures onto Google Maps.
