August Activities

Welcome to our newsletter number three! Let us know if there is something you'd like to see or how we can make it better. https://www.dla.mil/Defense-Data-Standards/Contact-Us/.

WE DO HARD THINGS: As you likely know we are neck deep in several key initiatives that will impact DLMS users near and far. On one hand, we are developing procedural and technical solutions to close gaps on a quickly approaching G-invoicing deadline (you'll see these proposed DLMS changes soon) while on the other we are developing brand spanking new transactions for FLIS cataloging (you'll see more on this soon) processes. Today, we are working on a DLMS change to align Foreign Military Finance Direct Loans and Loan Guarantees to the DoD Financial Management Regulation (FMR) transactionally. We are a small, busy group…doing hard things!

DLMS SUMMIT ACTIONS ITEMS: Have no fear! We are working on them! Many of these are wrapped up in larger efforts like Baseline development and DocuSign. Track progress and answers at this link: https://www.dla.mil/Portals/104/Documents/DLMS/Summit/Resources/
DLMS_Summit_Action_Items.pdf.

UPCOMING ON-LINE TRAINING EVENTS:

- November 12 at 1:30 EDT: X12 101

- November 19 at 1:30 EDT: How to read an X12 Implementation Convention

Signup for these (or ask for training on anything DLMS) at https://www.dla.mil/Defense-Data-Standards/Contact-Us/.

APPROVED DLMS CHANGES (ADCs) IN AUGUST:

  1. ADC 1462B. We continue to tweak Item Unique Identification usage in the DLMS 940R to support DLA Warehouse Management System (WMS) functionality with this administrative change.

Your Action: DoD Components must evaluate each applicable system to determine the level of impact. DLA WMS, Army LMP, and GCSS-Marine Corps are systems specifically identified in the document.

  1. ADC 1463B. This administrative change replaces ADC 1463A in its entirety. It clarifies language and removes an erroneous data element.

Your Action: The new DLA WMS will not support the Distribution Code 111. DoD Components who need these services from wholesale must coordinate with DLA and implement as soon as possible. This capability will not be available under legacy environments.

  1. ADC 1439A. This administrative change updates the 842AW transaction to remove an incorrect "Must Use" requirement from the 2/LIN/0200, 2/DTM/0600, and 2/REF/0700 segments.

Your Action: None. Implemented by DEDSO.

A FEW DEDSO ACTIVITIES FROM AUGUST:

Supply Discrepancy Reporting (SDR) Data in Advana.

The DEDSO SDR Team along with Defense Automatic Addressing System (DAAS) continue to make great progress in developing the requirements to send SDR data to Advana. Several changes have been implemented within the WebSDR database as the first step in achieving this goal.

Defense Property Accounting System (DPAS) Support

DEDSO and DAAS worked with representatives from the DPAS to developed technical solutions to resolve failed materiel release transactions in DPAS.

GOOD TO KNOW:

- The 997 Functional Acknowledgement transaction now has an XML schema available.
