Work on Route 522 Improvement Project to Resume Midweek

09/16/2024

Clearfield, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said the contractor for its project to improve approximately five miles of Route 522 in Lewistown Borough, Derry, and Decatur townships will resume work Wednesday, September 18. The project will address drainage deficiencies throughout the corridor and improve the ride quality of the road surface and multiple structures within the project limits.

When work resumes on Wednesday, flaggers will provide traffic control while the contractor places and seeds topsoil and mills end notches. Drivers are advised to watch for slow-moving and stopped vehicles, exercise caution in work zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.

Overall work on this project involves roadway reconstruction, paving, drainage improvements, guide rail installation, pavement marking, bridge preservation work, and miscellaneous construction. Grannas Bros. Stone & Asphalt Co., Inc. is the contractor on this $6.2 million project. PennDOT anticipates project completion in late October. All work is weather-dependent.
