TRAFFIC FATALITY - 1100 BLOCK OF EAST 4TH STREET

Collision Investigation Detail detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on Dec. 16, 2024 which resulted in the death of a female adult driver.

On Dec. 16, 2024 at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of East 4th Street regarding an injury collision involving two vehicles.

Upon arrival, Long Beach Fire Department personnel were already on scene, providing aid to the female adult driver. The driver was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The initial investigation revealed the driver and sole occupant of a 2000 Toyota Corolla was traveling at a slow speed through a parking lot and collided with an unoccupied parked vehicle. It appears the driver may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the collision.

At this time, speed, distracted driving, and impaired driving do not appear to be factors in this collision.

The driver is only being identified as a 77-year-old resident of Long Beach, pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
