The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flood Watch for the entire North Bay from tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. through Saturday, Dec. 14, at 4 p.m.
An average of .65" of rain fell across Santa Rosa last night and up to another 3" of rain is forecasted from late tomorrow through Saturday afternoon. Higher amounts are likely in the upper elevations of Sonoma County and around Santa Rosa. Residents should be prepared for rapid rises in local creeks, streams, and rivers, along with potential street ponding and urban flooding.
Do not drive through flooded or closed roads. Numerous drivers required emergency assistance locally during last month's storm when they attempted to drive through flood waters.
A High Wind Watch has been issued for the North Bay Coast from 7 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 13, through 7 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. Although the Watch does not cover the Santa Rosa area, windy conditions are expected. Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor holiday decorations, including inflatables.
The Fire Department strongly recommends clearing leaves and debris from gutters and storm drains on private property to help reduce flood risks. Additional rain is forecasted on Sunday into Monday of next week.
