New episodes of Let’s Talk Virtual Care podcast

VA just released episodes five and six of the "Let's Talk Virtual Care Podcast." The two episodes form a series discussing older adults and their use of VA Video Connect.

VA Video Connect is VA's secure videoconferencing application designed to help Veterans and their caregivers quickly and easily meet with VA health care providers through live video on any computer or mobile device with an internet connection.

Dr. Maia Carter, director of Virtual Care Integration, Office of Primary Care, is the host of Let's Talk Virtual Care. For episode five, she speaks with Dr. Michelle Martinchek, director of Outpatient Geriatrics at Boston VA, about how older adults engage with technology. In episode six, Dr. Andrea Schwartz, also a geriatric physician at Boston VA, joins Dr. Carter to discuss evolving data to support older adults in technology.

"There is much discussion on the ability and preference for older adults wanting to use Video Connect," said Carter. "We are finding that many of these folks enjoy it. It allows for their families to be part of the visit, decreases the burden of travel and often creates a more satisfying visit with their provider and team."

Let's Talk Virtual Care Podcast is now in its second season. Season one has eight episodes. The podcast is dedicated to amplifying strong practices in the implementation and expansion of virtual tools for our Veterans. In each episode, Carter talks to leaders about how virtual tools can be leveraged to help provide the soonest and best care to Veterans.
