Iran denounces false report by former UN rights rapporteur

Kanaani strongly slammed a report released by former UN rapporteur on Human Rights Council Javaid Rehman as false adding it is an attempt by Irans enemies to tarnish the Islamic Republic's image.

The spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, Nasser Kanaani, strongly slammed on Wednesday a report released by former UN rapporteur on Human Rights Council Javaid Rehman as false, adding it is an attempt by Iran's enemies to tarnish the Islamic Republic's image.

Kanaani stressed, "The former rapporteur, by relying on his international position and continuing his services to the Hypocrites (MKO) terrorist group, in the last days of his tenure, followed the terrorist group's agenda, and it is obvious that his claims lack any legal basis and are completely dismissed."

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson expressed deep regret that, "This person easily abuses his position at the United Nations and spreads fake news."

He said, "United Nations officials, particularly the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, have a legal responsibility to prevent misuse and the pursuit of biased personal or group agendas against countries. And the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves its legal right to object to this wrongful process in some human rights institutions."

The Iranian diplomat further said, "The enemies of the Iranian people, who failed to bring the Iranian nation to its knees through terrorism, encouraging oppressive economic sanctions and other damaging moves, will today fail to clean up their dark record and inhumane and terrorist actions by taking advantage of international institutions and falsifying the facts."

Concluding his remarks, Kanaani stressed, "The experience of the past few decades clearly indicates that the enemies of the Iranian nation have been humiliated and disgraced, and the honorable move by the Iranian people for the country's progress and might will continue."
