Together we can build resilient communities where everyone knows their role in disaster preparedness said,", said MMC.

Acting Director of Disaster Management ,Thomas Cameron said "This is part of the new initiative of the united nations, in the centre framework for disaster risk reduction which runs from 2015 up to 2030 as the municipality we have been involved in the programme for the last few years and we aim to follow the process of reducing disaster risk in the city as well as contributing to the global initiative and objective. Disaster risk reduction is not just about responding to disasters when they occur, it's about creating a culture of prevention and preparedness, where risks are understood, vulnerabilities are reduced, and resilience is built into the fabric of our communities".

"The future we hope for is one in which disasters no longer cause destruction and suffering within our grasp. However, we must act now, educate, empower, and engage our young people at every stage of the process. Working together, we can create a future free from disasters - a future that is secure, strong, and equitable for everyone" said Cameron.
