MetroHealth Appoints Chair of Geriatrics

The MetroHealth System is proud to announce it has appointed Michelle Dietz, MD, as Chair of Geriatric Medicine. Dr. Dietz, a 21-year veteran of the health system, takes over for James Campbell, MD, who announced his retirement earlier this year.

"Dr. Dietz is a skilled physician but who has a profound appreciation for the aging population," said Nabil Chehade, MD, Executive Vice President, Chief Clinical Transformation Officer. "Her deep understanding of geriatric medicine, combined with her empathy and dedication, allows her to connect with patients in a way that truly enhances their quality of life. We are confident that under her leadership MetroHealth will continue to provide exceptional care to our older adults and lead our pioneering work in this area."

Dr. Dietz has spent her entire professional career at MetroHealth, having completed both an Internal Medicine residency and Geriatric Medicine fellowship at the System. Today, she serves as Program Director for the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program as well as the Inpatient Consulting Physician in Geriatrics and Palliative Care. Previously, she served as Medical Director for MetroHealth's former skilled nursing operations.

Dr. Dietz earned her medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. She is also an Assistant Professor at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

"I am honored to step into this role and lead our efforts in geriatric medicine," Dr. Dietz said. "Caring for older adults has always been my passion, and I am deeply committed to improving the lives of Cleveland's aging population. I look forward to working alongside our incredible team to continue advancing the compassionate, high-quality care for which MetroHealth is known."
