A Closer Look: Porta Pro Wireless

In 1984 John C. Koss introduced one of the most iconic, innovative and influential headphones ever made, the Koss Porta Pro®.

Porta Pro® has defined and influenced personal portable audio for decades, and changed the way we all listen to music. After 40 years we challenged ourselves to take the legendary look, fit and sound of the original and design the next generation of Porta Pro® that truly cuts the cord.

Designing a headphone that's as small, lightweight and portable as the Koss Porta Pro® is a massive design challenge in itself, add in the Sound of Koss® requirement coupled with batteries, circuit boards, controls and microphone - and you realize why research and development is essential.

Keeping Porta Porta Pro® Wireless as true to the original as possible required a massive amount of innovation, and one of those innovations was the headband. Traditional Bluetooth headphones typically have hidden wires in the headband that transmit the audio signal from the electronics in one ear cup, to the speaker on the other side. However, this approach would have compromised the fit, functionality, and portability that Porta Pro® is known for. The solution was to redesign the headband. Koss designed a new patent-pending dual steel headband that transmits the audio signal, eliminating the need for wires while maintaining the iconic Porta Pro® form factor.

Every part of Porta Pro® Wireless, was designed so that Porta Pro® Wireless looked, fit and performed as close to the original as possible.

After almost 2 years of design, engineering and testing, the next generation of Porta Pro® has finally arrived with wireless bluetooth, analog pass through for wired listening, integrated microphone and audio controls and up to 20+ hours of battery life.
