New Audit Follow Up Released EMS: Ambulance Billing

Internal Audit has released a new follow-up report covering operational changes made in response to the Audit of Emergency Medical Services: Ambulance Billing (PDF).

The City has contracted with a new vendor to manage its EMS ambulance billing services, helping to improve controls over patient account accuracy and improving payment plan information availability. Additionally, new standard operating procedures have been implemented to better document the City's EMS Billing Vendor monitoring processes. However, the five major EMS fees have still not been updated since 2010 despite a fee study being conducted in 2022.
