Man Arrested for Facebook Marketplace Carjacking, Stolen Vehicle, Gun Recovered

Seattle Police arrested a man for armed carjacking during a Facebook Marketplace meetup in North Seattle last Thursday.

On June 27th at 4:13 p.m., patrol officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 1100 Block North 83rd Street. They located two victims nearby that had their vehicle stolen at gunpoint.

Officers determined the victims previously sold their vehicle on Facebook Marketplace. The suspects returned it, and later suspiciously attempted to re-purchase it. When the victims met with them a second time, their vehicle was stolen at gunpoint.

While investigating, the vehicle was located by a SWAT officer on Aurora Avenue North near Greenlake. SWAT and patrol officers initiated a high-risk stop and arrested the sole occupant and primary suspect.

A semi-automatic pistol was recovered from inside of the stolen vehicle and seized as evidence. The vehicle was returned to the owners.

The suspect, 22, was booked into King County Jail for Robbery 1st Degree. The other two suspects have not been located.

Detectives with Robbery Unit have been assigned to this case.
