Support our community and help restock the GIVE Center with essential hygiene items

DENVER- Friday, April 26, 2024 -Denver Human Services (DHS) has launched its annual #BeAGiver Spring Showers Hygiene Driveto restock the GIVE Center through 2025 with hygiene items for local, underserved families. This annual drive ensures Denver residents have ongoing support with their safety and health, especially during difficult times.

Since 2011, the GIVE Center, a resource provided by the city, has collected and distributed household, childcare, and personal goods to Denver families. In 2023, the DHS GIVE Center supplied over 29,000 essential hygiene items like shampoo, toothpaste and bar soap.

"Many of us take hygiene items for granted. But they are important for people to be able to thrive," said DHS Executive Director Anne-Marie Braga. "Providing these items for Denver community members directly aligns with our vision at DHS where all people are connected, supported, safe and well."

Thousands of Denver residents visit the GIVE Center every year for assistance. Seventy percent of those visitors are experiencing homelessness.

"Thank you for providing my family with the simplest things that mean the most right now," said a recipient of hygiene items from the GIVE Center.

Through May 17, DHS is collecting new, unopened hygiene items at donation bins across the city. The most needed items this year are 3-in-1 body wash, bar soap, body wipes, conditioner, deodorant, dish soap, emergency first-aid kits (band-aids, gauze, antiseptic, etc.), floss, hand sanitizer, laundry soap, lotion, maxi pads, razors, shampoo, shaving cream, sunscreen, tampons and toilet paper.
