Webster Votes to Pass Bill Closing Biden Harris's Pro China EV Loopholes

Washington, D.C. -
Florida Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, today voted to pass H.R. 7980, the End the Chinese Dominance of Electric Vehicles in America Act, prohibiting electric vehicle with batteries made from materials sourced from prohibited foreign entities, like China, from qualifying for the federal clean vehicle credit. "This legislation is about putting America, not China, first," said Rep. Webster. "The Biden-Harris Administration's lenient policies have opened the floodgates for the Chinese Communist Party to enrich themselves at the expense of American taxpayers. This stops today."While Republicans in Congress worked to secure strong provisions against foreign adversaries like China in the so-called "Inflation Reduction Act" (IRA), the Biden-Harris Administration's Treasury Department exploited loopholes that benefit Chinese manufacturers. These policies allow Chinese billionaires with ties to the Communist Party to profit from taxpayer-funded subsidies meant for American clean energy development. The End Chinese Dominance of Electric Vehicles in America Act puts an end to those loopholes, ensuring that taxpayer dollars are not used to fund Chinese interests. It aligns the rules for EV tax credits with those in the CHIPS Act, which already bars foreign entities of concern from receiving U.S. government support.
