Davenport University and the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (MHCC) have entered into a corporate scholarship agreement providing tuition discounts to all chamber members and their dependents.
"The Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is committed to its members and providing them with educational opportunities," said Davenport University President Richard J. Pappas, Ed.D. "We're excited to partner with them and all business leaders who want to invest in their employees' growth and future."
The benefits included for MHCC members and their families are a 20% tuition discount, 20% discount on professional development workshops, certificate programs and other non-credit training opportunities, and there is no fee to apply to any of the programs.
"The Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is committed to providing a return on investment to our members by enabling access to business opportunities and developmental resources through strategic initiatives like this one with Davenport," said Mark Moreno, executive director of the MHCC. "We are dedicated to fostering economic advancement, growth and sustainability for our members and consider Davenport a strategic partner in offering educational opportunities, especially now that the university has launched its Casa Latina program."
This fall, Davenport enrolled its first students in Casa Latina, a groundbreaking initiative that leads to bilingual degrees with professional proficiency in English and Spanish. The unique approach offers courses one week in Spanish and one week in English.
"In the Casa Latina program, we prioritize continuing education as a key factor in the professional growth of the Latino Community," said Carlos Sanchez, the executive director of Casa Latina at Davenport. "By pursuing further education, people invest in their own future and the future of their families."
