President's Message | Summer 2024

Happy Summer, Richton Park!

As said by author Charles Bowden, "summertime is always the best of what might be," and I couldn't agree more! With trees and flowers in full bloom, fresh air, and warm temperatures, we are ecstatic to be the perfect host for the season's outdoor events.

Here in Richton Park, we pride ourselves on our series of Summer Music events, gaining immense popularity with each year. Between our Mini Ravinia, Stepping Under the Stars, Lost in Music House Fest, Resident Appreciation Day, and YourParty Music Fest, there are ample opportunities to expand your understanding of what "community" really is, make new friends, and party with us. The longest days belong to Summer! More importantly though, it gives us the chance to come together and celebrate our Village, discovering the advantages available to its residents and citizens alike.

Summer also means the daily sound of lawnmowers, the smell of fresh cut grass, residents sprucing up their yards for the Beautification Awards, and not to forget the enticing aroma of grilling for family and friend cookouts - all remarkable reminders of the season!

Richton Park is a community that is active and supportive of new ideas. We know that you are passionate about where you live, as you should be. We encourage our individual leaders and neighborhood ambassadors to participate in any of our committees or commissions - we have PLENTY to choose from, each a different vehicle in creating, enriching, and guiding fellow residents toward the best outcomes achievable for everyone.

And although it is summer, we strive to not miss a beat in providing great dedication and service to residents. Warm temperatures lead to drastic opportunities for growth and change! It signals the beginning of road repairs, infrastructure projects, and new development. Now that you've granted us Home Rule, our agenda for progress has resulted in a streamlined plan with creative incentive packages for businesses and developers showing interest in building or coming to Richton Park. This past year, we did the hard things that are also the right things for OUR community. Our vision goes unmatched, and we proudly serve you with our "brights on."

Let's make this one of the best summers yet, filled with laughter, partnership, participation, and productivity. Along with Village Board and Staff, I hope you and your family continue to make lasting memories. I look forward to seeing you around!
